Tea Rooms


Peter and Jeanette offer a wide range of tasty home-cooked snacks and meals all of which are freshly prepared and incorporate, where possible, local ingredients. These dishes are accompanied by a choice of teas, coffees,herbal and fruit infusions, soft drinks and fruit juices, some of which are sourced locally.  For example:

For Lite Bites at any time of the day try baked spinach, mushroom and avocado topped with delicious melted goats cheese and served with mixed leaves or maybe a Chestnut's Ploughman's served with home-made bread, hand cooked crisps and various salads, pickled onions and Branston pickle.

For a more substantial lunch you could try local pork sausages with mashed potato and onion gravy or smoked mackerel fishcake topped with a poached egg and served with new potatoes and salad garnish.  As an alternative how about our Chef's platter with smoked salmon, poached salmon, smoked chicken, avocado and cheese served with new potatoes on a bed of mixed leaves. There is a range of tempting desserts including Apple Strudel  with cream, white and dark chocolate cheesecake and hazelnut chocolate brownies with ice cream!

If you visit in the afternoon you could sample our Chestnuts Cream Tea (served at any time!) or go the whole hog with our Sussex Tea with home-made fruit scone clotted cream and jam and the choice of sandwich and cake with a pot of tea. Or maybe try our speciality of the house-- savoury scones!
